MEET ANDY

Andrew W. Gould was appointed as a Justice to the Arizona Supreme Court in 2017 after serving five years on Division One of the Arizona Court of Appeals. Prior to his appointment to the Court of Appeals, Justice Gould spent 11 years as a Judge of the Superior Court in Yuma County, where he served as both Associate Presiding Judge and Presiding Judge.

Andy received his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 1990 and began his legal career in Phoenix, Arizona, practicing in the field of civil litigation. In 1994, he became a Deputy County Attorney, prosecuting major criminal cases for Yuma and Maricopa Counties. As a prosecutor in Yuma, Andy tried every type of criminal case imaginable, including the prosecution of criminal organizations located in Mexico.

A RECORD OF TRUST

After serving as a civil litigator and prosecutor in Maricopa and Yuma County, Andy was appointed by three different governors to three different judicial positions.

 
2001 – 2011: Appointed by Governor Jane Dee Hull to fill a vacant seat on the Yuma County Superior Court.
2006: Appointed by Chief Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court’s Presiding Judge for Yuma County.
2012: Appointed by Governor Jan Brewer as a Judge to the Arizona Court of Appeals.
2016: Appointed by Governor Doug Ducey as Justice to the Arizona Supreme Court.
